The airbrush gun has been around for over one hundred years and in this time it has undergone many changes to become an advanced piece of equipment that is used in many facets. In fact the primary designers of the airbrush gun would probably be extremely surprised at the wide ranging uses of this piece of equipment today, given the reasons it was designed for in the first place.
History:
The first air brush guns were created by an American named Francis Stanley back in 1876, this was later developed further by another American man, but it was still a very crude design. Initially the gun was created for painting, something that the product is still used for today, however over time the gun developed and new uses were found.
Uses today:
Today the airbrush gun is used in a myriad of different ways. Long gone are the days when this great and revolutionary piece of technology was simply used for painting, today these guns are used for spray tans in tanning salons, airbrushing makeup, tattoos, nail art and more.
Not to be confused with a Spray Gun:
After the initially usage of the airbrush gun some decided they wanted a larger scale version for industrial application, this resulted in the creation of the spray gun. Working along the same lines as its predecessor, the spray gun allows for use over greater areas and allows for release of larger quantities of liquid stored.
How does it work?
The gun works by using compressed air, this air is passed through a tube that narrows as the air moves along. This action decreases the pressure in the tube so the liquid that is to be sprayed is collected through a suction motion and out of the nozzle. The paint comes out as very small molecules because the high speed of the compressed air literally breaks the paint into tiny flecks. Continue reading ‘Airbrush Gun’
